Prayer

As Christians we believe that prayer is very important, as through it we can build our relationship with God and bring to Him our concerns and thanksgivings as well as those of others. We believe that God hears and responds to our prayers, sometimes in a way that is not obvious to us or in the way that we might expect or hope for.

The most well known of all Christian prayers is the one which Jesus taught to His disciples (Matthew 6:9-13), known to us now as the Lord's Prayer. It is reproduced below.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy Name;

thy kingdom come; thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen.
